Articles for those who think. By Terry Pearson

About Me

without comments

Terry PearsonI am a software developer and “unwilling” political activist from Minnesota. While I am passionate about politics, in many ways, I wish I did not need to be.  It is the fear of what may happen if good men do not speak out, that drives me to continue to delve into political matters.

Education

I graduated magna cum laude from Southwest Minnesota State University with a degree in Computer Science and Business Administration.

Interests

Over the past several years, I feel like I have had very limited free time. However, when I have a moment, I like to camp, hike, and bike.

I love building new web application on the computer and I usually work closely with my brother, Trevor, on new projects. He and I own a software company called Advanced Venture Solutions.

Family

My wife is Jessica Pearson. She also has a blog on this site. Her’s mainly focuses on family, knitting, photography, etc. I have two children, Elsie and Abigail. They each also have their own blogs on iPearson.net. I will admit that the posts are not usually done by them (They have a little help).

Goal of this blog

My posts may seem a little hard to stomach at times and you need to understand that this is by design. I feel that it is essential that people think through those hard questions that nobody feels are appropriate to ask.

I believe that lack of discussion results in lack of commitment to an ideal. If you believe something, it is absolutely necessary that you know why you hold those beliefs. If not, you have no anchor.

So yes, I may challenge your assumptions, my articles may make you uncomfortable, but take that as a challenge to either shore up your beliefs, or change them once you have thought them through.

Politics

I believe that we must live in peace with our fellow man to the best of our ability. Force, by government or by brute, is fundamentally wrong and should therefore be used only to repel misuses of force by others. Government should have no more business telling you how to raise your children or run your life than your neighbor has telling you the same.

I ran as a Republican for the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2010.  Though I was affiliated with the Republican party, my allegiances were to the ideals of a free nation. In so far as the party achieved those goals, I continued to support them. When they deviated to a degree that I could not, in good conscience, tolerate, I broke ties with the party.

I tend to support libertarian leaning candidates. I have seen the corruption of both parties and I openly admit that no party can fix our nation. The only way to fix our political corruption problem in this nation is by shifting the culture to accept liberty for all. Such ideas require one to relinquish your power to force your view on others, even if it is for their own good. Such ideas are not normally found in the main stream.

Religion

Jesus is my Savior. This is something that I take ownership in. I know this to be true, not because others have told me so, but because I heeded the command “Seek and you shall find.” I sought, and I found, that Jesus is alive, real, and the only one capable to give us eternal salvation.

I spent a time in Mission, TX, in a discipleship program called Master’s Commission. We led missions trips into Mexico (Reynosa), aided the local church with children’s ministries, and studied classes ranging from church history to hermeneutics.

After a time in Mission, I spent a couple years at Bethany College of Missions in Bloomington, MN. Later, I attended Southwest MN State University, where I completed my college education.

Today, I am part of the church that meets at Showplace Theater in Inver Grove Heights. The church is known as Highpoint Church, and is pastored by Tory and Elizabeth Farina. Jessica and I frequently help in the kids section (nursery area) and help greet, usher, etc.
