Perhaps some of the most interesting news to hit the computer world in a while has came out today. Ubunu, the Linux distribution famous for its easy to use interface and user friendliness, has released a direct highly competitive operation system that will make Windows Vista look pretty, well, normal.

Ubuntu 7.10 (Ubuntu “Gutsy” if you enjoy following release names), sports a 3D desktop environment, an easy install system, and support for almost every piece of hardware out there.

UbuntuThe programmers behind Ubuntu have gone all out on this one. Best of all, you can get it for free. Even better, is their “try before you install” option. The CD comes with “Live” capabilities, which allows you to take the Operating System for a test drive by just putting in the CD. If you like it, Ubuntu will happily coexist with Windows. This new version even allows you to share files with your Windows Operating System on the same computer.

You can download Ubuntu by going to their Ubuntu Download Site, or if you are cool, download Ubuntu through Bittorrent.
