If I had read “Code” before I became a computer science major, I would have been much better prepared for my education.
Starting with basic concepts (like flashlights) the author progresses you through interesting examples to help you fully understand the fundamentals behind computing.
This is the essential computer book for all computer science majors, and even for those curious about how computers process data.
Richard Monson has a good post about this book if you want to find out what other developers think.
In the review, Richard says “If you buy no other computer book this year, and you have the same yearning to know the lowest of details without having to understand complex mathematics than you should buy this book.”
I think he is right on on this one. If you get a chance, be sure to check it out. You will definately love it!
