Military to use Computerized Voice Translators

The military is looking into using computers to translate English to Arabic. This could prove to be a vital tool in situations where tensions are tight, and a quick understanding on both sides is imperative. The system will work on a laptop that has a microphone.
Similar, more basic, systems are already in use in Afghanistan.  Those systems only have push button phrases. You push a button and it plays a commonly used phrase.

The difference with the new systems is that they will actually “hear” the person talking, and “say” the translated phrase.

Now, I need one of these for my Spanish class!
